Jeffrey Baker was born in Cowra NSW Australia in April 1953. He has applied his unique ability as an Artist and Craftsman to many forms, with a natural sense for vision and opportunity.

A self-taught artist, he is happily married with three children, living and painting presently in Coffs Harbour. Jeffrey uses an open minded approach to art making. He bases reference material to the observation of life in our natural and man made environment, in its many diverse forms and situations. Keeping in mind his ability to portray his personal vision as an artist, he creates an overview in many forms, combining the visual spectacle of life, with the qualities of our landscape, object, vision, colour line and balance.

Artist Statement.

The themes and ideas cultivated over my career are moving closer towards a sense of appreciation and maturity to what I believe is the core within, to express and develop paintings of a greater understanding and purpose. I'm continually draw to the magnitude of this continent Australia in it's many diverse forms and characteristics. My desire as an artist is to grasp a feeling for this land and to portray it's uniqueness. The use of our imagination should never be restricted or hindered. Freedom of expression and the understanding in one's ability is a life time goal we should all try to achieve with the gifts we have been given from God.

Art History

One Person Exhibitions.

Jeffrey's art career spans over many years with his first one person exhibition in 1977 at the Earth Family Works Gallery In Coffs Harbour. Since 1977 he has had numerous highly successful one-person exhibitions in - Sydney, Northern NSW & Queensland. Exhibiting in the Holdsworth Galleries Woollahra Sydney, Savah Galleries Bondi Sydney, Restaurants, International 5 Star Resorts, Christian City Church Coffs Harbour and Wollongong , Furniture & Living exhibitions in Australia & Japan. Every January Jeffrey holds a major exhibition at Nautilus Resort Coffs Harbour These exhibitions are a huge success selling majority of the Art on show . From these shows Jeff is kept busy with a high demand of on going commission.

Mixed Exhibitions.

Jeffrey has also had numerous mixed or shared exhibitions through galleries and exhibitions throughout N.S.W. & Queensland. In Nov 1998 Jeffrey was chosen to exhibited his work in New Parliament House (with the Great South Land selections).

Private Collections and International.

Jeffrey's has been commissioned to do art by private individual collectors and many pieces have been sent to international destinations. In 1997 Jeffrey was commissioned to under take a large canvas for a corporate firm in Japan, also that year Jeffrey exhibited his work in an Australian Furniture Exhibition in Tokyo Japan.

Prizes & Awards.

Jeffrey has been awarded 1st place and highly commended in many art shows for his unique approach to Australian landscape and his bright contemporary feel.

The unusual.

Jeffrey has not limited his skills to only canvas and board paintings. In the past he has also transferred his talent on to many forms of mediums. Including wall, floor, ceiling, furniture, musical instruments Size and shape dose not seem to worry him but today he finds he keeps his work to specific dimensions of his fine art pieces.

Jeffrey’s flexible approach to art making and his unique style brings him to a level of understanding specific requirements needed by Architects, Interiors Designers & Coporate Image. And works with special confidence in new challenges - always holding the artistic license. (Commission arrangements)
